Take a sentence or a few words from a story (e.g., “A Koala Called Kevin”) and have your child count each word while taking a step with each word spoken. You can use post-its, pieces of paper, or sensory squares placed on the floor to walk on. This activity helps children understand the concept of spoken words and lays a foundation for reading skills.

Koala Tree Pose
Guide your child into tree pose by having them stand on one leg with the other foot resting on either the lower or upper part of the opposite leg (but not directly on the knee joint). Encourage them to extend their arms in front of them, as if they are a koala bear hugging a tree.
Tree Pose with Leaves
While in tree pose, have your child move their arms as if they are reaching for and eating leaves. Remind them to switch legs and balance on both sides. This exercise is excellent for improving balance and coordination!
