Letter Switch
Write the letters “p-i-g” on three post-its and sound out each letter with your child, then say the word “pig”.
Ask them to point to the /i/ sound in the word. To change “pig” to “pug,” show them the letter “u” on a new post-it and replace the “i”.
Continue the activity by switching one letter at a time to form new words (e.g., pig-pug-hug-bug-bag-bat-mat). This helps with understanding letter-sound relationships and builds phonemic awareness!
Yoga
Happy Baby Pose
Guide your child to lay on their back, bend their knees so their shins are parallel to the ceiling, and grab the outsides of their feet with their hands or hold onto their ankles. Encourage them to keep their lower back on the ground and gently rock side to side.
Mud Pig Pose
Pretend the ground is mud and your child is a pig trying to get as dirty as possible! Have them come into happy baby pose and roll side to side, massaging their lower back. Next, guide them to roll front to back, massaging their spine. Challenge them to rock back and forth and try to stand up without using their hands!
