“If I Had an Owl” Storytelling
After reading If I Had an Octopus, show your child the letter “O” card and ask them to create their own story titled “If I Had an Owl.” You can continue the activity by pulling cards randomly for other story ideas (like “If I Had an Alligator”, “Flamingo”, “T-Rex”, or “Zoo”). Depending on their age, they can tell the story, draw pictures, or even start writing it down. This activity encourages creativity and helps develop storytelling skills!
Yoga
Owl Pose
Toe Stand: Start by having your child stand up and come onto their tiptoes. Guide them to slowly bend their knees and sit back on their heels, using their fingertips near the ground for support. Encourage them to turn their head from side to side, like an owl, to test their balance. Inhale and lift their arms to the side and up, mimicking big wings, and exhale with a “hooooot” sound to complete the pose. Challenge them to do this with their eyes closed for an added balance test.
